The Ocean Trust Film

The Ocean Trust Film is a non profit organization dedicated to protecting the planet's oceans.  Through the power of documentary film and a global community of volunteers we are focused on raising awareness and effecting change by cleaning up the North Pacific Gyre aka the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a collection of plastic debris located between Oregon and Hawaii and covering an area the size of Texas.

In conjunction with the producer of Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden, starring Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me, we are producing a documentary film chronicling the formation and execution of a massive network of boats working to clean up the debris.

Project Kaisei is the first of these efforts and plans to launch its first mission Summer 2009.  Plastic feedstock collected by Project Kaisei will be converted into fuel in order to demonstrate the economic efficacy of cleaning up the debris.

The film will include a visually stunning portrait of the planet's oceans.  Footage captured by renowned photographer Gregory Colbert of Ashes and Snow as well as others will present the beauty and fragility of the oceans' ecosystems.

The film will be accessible, inspirational, factual and realistic in tone. The goal of the film is to raise awareness and effectuate change in an effort to protect the planet's oceans.
